Kern Valley Area Campgrounds

Many Kern Valley area campgrounds can be reserved online using the National Recreation Reservation Service -- a reservation service for the the USDA Forest Service, Army Corps of Engineers, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation outdoor recreation facilities and activities. Reservations may also be made by phone at (877) 444-6777.

Upper Kern Campgrounds

 There are various camping options available on the Upper Kern, north of Kernville. In addition to several USFS campgrounds (USFS map), and private campgrounds, there are also unimproved (dispersed) sites along the River. The USFS Campgrounds are Headquarters, Camp Three, Hospital Flat, Goldledge, Fairview, and Limestone. Some of the USFS campgrounds may be reserved through the National Recreation Reservation Service.

Two private campgrounds are located in Kernville. Both have showers. RiverView RV Park is located in town just north of the bridge.It has individual campsites, and trailer hookups available. Phone is (760) 376-2345. Frandy Park is located just south of the bridge, across the river from Riverside Park. Individual and group sites are available. Phone is (760) 376-6483.

Lake Isabella Campgrounds (approximately 10-20 minutes from Kernville)

The following USFS Campgrounds are located on the west shore of Lake Isabella, between Hwy 178 and Kernville: Main Dam, Pioneer Point, French Gulch, Hungry Gulch, Boulder Gulch, Tilly Creek and Live Oak. (USFS map). All have showers. Fees are about $15/night. Reservations may be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service.or by calling (877) 444-6777. Lower Kern Campgrounds (approximately 20 minutes from Kernville)

Camping is available at the race site at Hobo Campground. Reservations may be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service.or by calling (877) 444-6777. Approximately 1.5 miles upstream of the race site is Sandy Flat Campground (first come-first served).
